A Year of Expectation and Hope Based on Innovation, Growth, and Professionalism

As we approach the end of the year, we are naturally led to reflect on the journey taken, particularly on all the lessons learned, achievements, and challenges. This process of reflection is just as necessary in personal life as it is in businesses and organizations.

For Vida Maior, 2024 was a remarkable year, defined by four key words: Development, Innovation, Growth, and Expectation.

Our teams have grown in number, skills, and responsibilities, allowing for a more integrated and collaborative management approach. This maturity translated into service improvements and the implementation of new projects, always with a focus on innovation and personalized care. This evolution was visible across all services—from support activities to technical management—fostering a more dynamic, proactive, and responsible team. This collective spirit drove new projects forward, consolidated initiatives, and reinforced our mission.

In 2024, we optimized our work methodology and introduced significant improvements to the Vida Maior intervention model, particularly in diagnostic tools, activities, and techniques, ensuring an increasingly personalized and effective approach.

Innovation remained one of our core commitments. We introduced Shelty bed sheets across all our facilities—a technology developed by IHCare, a leading Portuguese company in health innovation.

These sheets enhance the comfort of our clients while facilitating the work of our caregivers, reflecting our commitment to continuous service improvement. The Vida Maior Maceira unit was the first to implement this Portuguese innovation, which is now being used in several countries—establishing itself as an example of innovation in improving quality of life.

Vida Maior experienced significant growth in 2024, both in client numbers and in the expansion of projects and team structure. We restructured our Day Centers and centralized operations at the Maceira unit, increasing service reach, supporting more clients, and strengthening family assistance. At the same time, we increased the staff-to-client ratio, ensuring more frequent interactions, leading to direct benefits in stimulation, well-being, and quality of life for our clients.

With the creation of the new Communication Department, we took a decisive step toward strengthening our mission and social responsibility to promote a positive view of active aging and elderly people. This investment in the professionalization of communication resulted in a new website – more modern and functional – and in the development of a revamped graphic identity on social media, with more regular sharing of our activities, reinforcing our digital and institutional presence.

The year of 2024 was also marked by challenges, particularly due to the length and complexity of bureaucratic processes and inefficiencies in some administrative procedures. These difficulties led us to postpone two projects to 2025, which have been in development since 2023 and are fully planned and ready for execution. Despite this, we remain committed to growth, expanding services, facilities, and units, and reaching more people and families, providing them with a higher quality of life, health, and well-being.

Everything is prepared so that, already in January 2025, we can inaugurate the new Vida Maior Oeste unit, with a capacity of 35 beds in a ERPI. Furthermore, we will proceed with the acquisition, from ADM – Associação de Desenvolvimento e Melhoramento da Póvoa de Penafirme, of a facility currently under construction. This project includes the execution of construction work, scheduled to begin in 2025, with the objective of completing the new unit, which will be named Vida Maior Atlântico, and will include 63 ERPI beds, a Day Center, and a Cognitive Stimulation Center.
